We are run angel, an innovative wearable technology company based in Cork, Ireland.
Founded in 2013 by husband and wife team, David & Ellen Caren, and with the help of an extensive team of engineers, app developers, acoustic experts, industry mentors and security advisors, we have developed a personal safety wearable for runners, joggers, cyclists, students, overseas travellers, lone workers and revellers that emits a loud 120dB high-pitched audible alarm when activated, and pairs with smartphone devices over Bluetooth to send out alerts in the event of an emergency.
Creating a wearable that was not only very loud, but that could be worn neatly on the wrist was a challenge in itself. At the heart of each run angel is our patent pending acoustic sound chamber and tuned electronic circuit design. From the early stages of development our focus was on the audible capability of our wearable, after all, the greater the sound, the greater level of attention one can attract in an emergency situation.
Once we had achieved our targeted decibel threshold level we added an additional layer of safety for our users with the run angel iOS & Android companion app. The run angel app allows our users to set up a guardian network of family & friends who can be notified in an emergency by SMS and email upon activation of their run angel.
